Despite the fact that societies state their tolerance of diversity, reality seems to contradict them. There is discrimination in the work place due to age or appearance. Society seems to accept a relationship between a mature man and a younger woman but totally rejects the opposite. There is even underlying discrimination within families depending on the sex of the family member and sexual preferences are subtly swept under the rug.
